MySQL’s JSON Data Type

MySQL 5.7 introduces a new JSON data type which allows you to store valid JSON documents. This talk cover the implementation on this new data type, how the data is stored in an optimized binary format for faster access, the functions need to query/test/search/manipulate JSON data, how to use generated virtual columns for creating fast SQL compatible indexes, and when to and not to use JSON.
