Developing the Developer

Spending time reading books is a great way to develop your career as a developer, but what are the other ways out there. Mentoring, Open Source and involving yourself in the conversation on Twitter, IRC and user groups will push you out of your comfort zone, and help you grow in ways a book could not do.

In this talk, we will look at ways to help a developer, at any level, grow in an organic way. By opening the avenue of finding a mentor/mentee, looking at some awesome open source projects and playing an active role on mailing lists and group discussions, developers can find ways to grow that are challenging yet very rewarding.
