Lightning Talks to Take Place Thursday, March 17

Opensource.com is excited to host a lightning-fast hour at Great Wide Open! Our lightning talk session will be held at The Garage @ Georgia Tech’s main stage, 11:15 am on Thursday, March 17.

Been to a lightning talk before? Don’t miss out! Speakers have just five minutes to enlighten us with a burst of information about their open source passions and projects. This session is quick and edgy, yet informative—even intellectual.

Share what you learn and see what others are enjoying with the #GWO2016 hashtag. We’ll have amazing speakers lined up, and you’ll definitely want to share what you’re learning on social media.

Here’s the lineup:

  • Not that Weird: Open Source Tools for Creatives – Jason van Gumster – Feral Creative
  • Open Source Visualization Tools for Hadoop with Rommel Garcia – Big Data Engineer, Hortonworks
  • Open Source On My Mind: How Georgians Benefit from a Centralized Drupal PaaS with Kendra Skeene – Director of Product, GeorgiaGov Interactive
  • Developers: How to Find Your Dream Job with Azat Mardan – Technology Fellow & well known author, Capital One
  • How Not to Get Help with Emily Dunham – DevOps Engineer, Mozilla
  • Unexpected Outcomes of Getting Involved with Ginny Ghezzo – Program Director, Client Relations @ IBM
